Sh. Abu Khadeejah’s request
Shaikh Abu Khadeejah’s statement written 23rd January 2025 / 23rd Rajab 1446 regarding praise of him and the mashayikh at *Al-Maktabah As-Salafiyyah:
As-salāmu-alaikum-wa-rahmatullāh.
The truth is that we have never used the terminology of ‘aalim for ourselves before, we do not deserve it and are not pleased with it. Even the term shaikh has been ascribed to us (by the scholars) I imagine, due to our years in calling to Allah — and thus, the ascription is due to age and experience in da’wah and teaching, not as a synonym for scholar or a person of great knowledge. Rather, we consider ourselves as students of knowledge and nothing more.
So, the terms ‘aalim, scholar, etc., we free ourselves from such ascriptions (for ourselves) — and Allāh knows that I am not deserving of such titles.
Furthermore, Allāh knows that we love our scholars and have benefitted from them, and maybe out of their love for us and having good thoughts, some of them speak with generous and kind words — but Allāh knows us better, wallāhul-musta’aan.
I ask you, therefore, to remove that audio from YouTube wherein I am praised by the noble Shaikh Sālim Bāhmihriz (hafidhahullāh). And may Allah reward him for his good thoughts of me.
It is sufficient that you mention his encouragement to attend the conference/dawrah in Brisbane, Australia in a text or tweet. Bārakallāhu-feekum.
No one has asked me to write this (or requested it from me), nor has anyone advised me to do so. I know myself, and that is sufficient.
Abu Khadeejah Abdul-Wahid.
