Narrated ‘Aisha رضي الله عنها:

Umm Habiba and Umm Salama mentioned about a church they had seen in Ethiopia in which there were pictures. They told the Prophet about it, on which he said,
*“If any religious man dies amongst those people they would build a place of worship at his grave and make these pictures in it. They will be the worst creature in the sight of Allah on the Day of Resurrection".*

[Sahih Bukhari, Volume 1, The Book of Prayer (08), Hadeeth No. 420]

‘A’isha رضي الله عنه and Abdullah (رضي الله عنه‏) reported:

As the Messenger of Allaah (صلى الله عليه وسلم) was about to breathe his last, he drew his sheet upon his face and when he felt uneasy, he uncovered his face and said in that very state:
*"Let there be curse upon the Jews and the Christians that they have taken the graves of their Prophets as places of worship. He in fact warned (his men) against what they (the Jews and the Christians) did".*

[Sahih Muslim, The Book of Prayer (04), Chapter: Forbiddance to build mosques on the graves and decorating them with pictures and forbiddance to use the graves as mosques, No. 1082]

Our beloved Prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم) explicitly said and warned:

*“BEWARE of those who preceded you and used to take the graves of their prophets and righteous men as places of worship, but you MUST NOT take graves as mosques; I FORBID YOU to do that.”*

[Narrated by Jundub (رضي الله عنه‏). Reported in Sahih Muslim, The Book of Prayer, Chapter: Forbiddance to build mosques on the graves and decorating them with pictures and forbiddance to use the graves as mosques, No. 1083]

*“Du’aa (supplication) is worship”*
[Sahih, at-Tirmidhi 3372 and Abu Dawud 1479]

*And your Lord said: “INVOKE ME, I WILL RESPOND to your (invocation)”* [Surah Ghaafir (40): 60]

Allah commanded us to invoke and supplicate to Him directly and did not say invoke the likes of Jesus, Chisti, Tijani, Badawi, Abdul-Qadir al-Jilani, etc., or use them as intermediaries and intercessors.

Brief info about the lecturer: Ustādh Abu Ukkaashah Abdul-Hakim has studied in Jāmi’atul-Imaam, University of Imaam Muhammad bin Sa’ūd in Riyādh. He spent around 10 years in the city benefitting from the ulemaa such as Shaykh Fawzaan, Luhaydaan and others.

Some of the points mentioned:

- There’s a tremendous amount of disunity and every single claimant has a claim that he makes and everyone claims to be upon the truth. So a person is left in this quagmire: ‘how do discern what is the truth and what is not?’
- Quote from a small section of Ibn al-Qayyim’s work ‘Ilām al-Muwaqi’īn, including mention of ‘Ilmul-Nāfi’ (beneficial knowledge) and ‘Amalus-Sālih (righteous good deeds)
- From the greatest sources of unity is to return back to Ahlul-‘Ilm – “Ask the people of knowledge if you do not know” (16:43)
- Another way of unity is following the Messenger. That which brings about disunity in the Ummah is opposing the teachings of Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم)

“None of you [truly] believes until his desires are subservient to that which I have brought.”

"So how then will it be when the angels take them (souls at death), striking their faces and their backs. This is because they followed that which angered Allah and they disliked his pleasure, so Allah made vain their actions."

Note: This talk is based on the works of the noble Shaykh Abdul-Rahman ibn Nasir al-Sa'di (d. 1376H, rahimahullah) and was translated and delivered by Abu ‘Iyaad Amjad Rafiq (hafidhahullah) in Middlesbrough (UK) during Ramadaan 1428H (September 2007) which was uploaded a few years later.

This talk is a general reminder (during Ramadaan), centred around Eemaan, Taqwaa and related issues. Abu Iyaad goes through some of the verses in the Qur'an and the commentary of Shaykh Abdul-Rahman ibn Nasir al-Sa'di (rahimahullah), who was one of the teachers of Shaykh Uthaymeen (d. 1421H, rahimahullah). One such verse is the following:

"And to Allah belongs all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth. And verily, We have recommended to the people of the Scripture before you, and to you (O Muslims) that you (all) fear Allah, and keep your duty to Him, But if you disbelieve, then unto Allah belongs all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth, and Allah is Ever Rich (Free of all wants), Worthy of all praise." [4:131]

Methodology Of The Prophets In Calling To Allah - Abu Muadh Taqweem Aslam

A full chapter in the Qur'an regarding the call of Prophet Nuh (Noah) - peace be upon him - to his people. The message was one of Tawhid (monotheism, worshipping only one God alone) and avoidance of Shirk (polytheism, worshipping others besides or along with God).

He lived for 950 years, calling to the message of Monotheism and urging them to abandon false deities:

"And indeed We sent Nuh (Noah) to his people, and he stayed among them a thousand years less fifty years [inviting them to believe in the Oneness of Allah (Monotheism), and discard the false gods and other deities], and the Deluge overtook them while they were Zalimun (wrong-doers, polytheists, disbelievers, etc.)."

[Qur'an, Surah Al-Ankabut ( Chapter 29 ), verse 14]

This was the call of all of the Prophets and Messengers (peace be upon them all), culminating in the final Prophet Muhammad (May Allah send prayers and peace upon him), the Seal of the Prophets, whose message was a universal one, applicable to all times and places, until the Last Day (al-yawmul-aakhir) - which is the Day of Judgement.

An excellent lecture by brother Abu Uwais Abdullaah Alee (rahimahullaah) on the topic of sticking to the Ulemaa (scholars). Amongst the matters discussed are the distinguishing characteristics of the Ulemaa who are indeed very few in our times.

The great Sahabi 'Abdullah ibn Masood (رضي الله عنه‏) said:

Concerning the following hadith narrated by Abdullāh Ibn 'Abbās ( رضي الله عنه ):

"Beware of extremism in religion because the only thing that destroyed those before you was extremism in religion." [Recorded by al-Nasāī (Sunan al-Nasāī al-Kubrá, 2/435, no. 4049) and Ibn Mājah (Sunan Ibn Mājah, 2/1008, no. 3029). The actual wording is that of al-Nasāī and the ḥadīth's chain of narrators is authentic.]

Shaykh 'Alī Ibn Yaḥyá al-Ḥaddādī (note this not the individual to whom the Haddaadee sect is ascribed to, that is an individual by the name of Mahmood al-Haddaad) mentioned:

"The prophet ( صلّى الله عليه وسلّم ) explained that the very thing that destroyed the nations before us was religious extremism. From his detailed explanations, he explained that the destruction of Nūḥ's (Noah's) people was their going to extremes with regards to past righteous people so much so that they eventually began worshipping them. And the Jews were destroyed because of their extremism regarding 'Uzayr and the calf (eventually worshipping them), their extremism regarding their neglect and belittling of religion so much so that they killed prophets and changed and distorted religious texts. The reason for the Christians' destruction was their extremism regarding 'Īsá, the son of Maryam and his mother (Mary), (eventually worshipping them) and their innovating and fabricating of religious rites and acts of worship for which Allah never authorized. And the reason for the destruction of most of those destroyed from our nation is also extremism: extremism in issues of Allah's names and characteristics, extremism regarding righteous people, or going to extremes in matters of passing judgment of people, etc. And there are many other ways leading to destruction which originate from extremism: either by excessiveness or negligence (in religion)."

'Abdullah narrated that the Prophet Muhammad said:
"The blood of a Muslim who confesses that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah and that I am His Apostle, cannot be shed except in three cases; In Qisas for murder, a married person who commits illegal sexual intercourse and the one who reverts from Islam (apostate) and leaves the Muslims." (Sahih al-Bukhari, Book of Blood Money no. 6444)

Ibn 'Umar narrated that the Prophet Muhammad said:
"During some of the Ghazawat (battles) of Allah's Messenge, a woman was found killed, so Allah's messenger forbade the killing of women and children."
(Sahih al-Bukhari, Book of Jihad {Fighting for Allah's Cause} no. 3015)

It is reported that the first caliph, Abu Bakr as-Siddiq sent his army to Syria and Palestine, and he commanded them:

"Do not kill women and children and the elderly, and do not cut down the trees that bear fruit and do not destroy the populated areas."
(Malik bin Anas (died 179H) reports it in his al-Muwatta)

1) Imaam Maalik on the Sufis:

"We were with Maalik and his companions were around him. A man from the people of Naseebeen said, "We have a people called Sufees who eat a lot and following that they mention lines of poetry and then stand up to dance"

Maalik (rahimahullah) said, "Are they children?"

He said, "No"

Maalik (rahimahullah) said, "Are they possessed?"

He said, "No, they are elderly and usually sane (when they are not doing that)."

Maalik (rahimahullah) said, "I have never heard anyone from the people of Islam doing this!!!"

The man said, "Well, they eat then they stand and dance. Some of them hitting their heads and some their faces." So Maalik (rahimahullah) laughed and then stood up and went to his house. His companions said to the man, "You were fortunate with our companion, since we have sat with him for thirty odd years yet we never saw him laugh except on this day."

2) Ibn Al-Jawzi said that Ash-Shafi'ee said,

"The sanity of a person never returned to the one who remained with a Sufee for forty days."

As for what the Sufees have innovated then it is from that which no one disagrees to its forbiddance..."

They will be the worst creature in the sight of Allah on the Day of Resurrection.

The word "Madkhali" is used in a derogatory sense to frighten people away from the Salafi manhaj - often the Muslim youth who are new to Salafiyyah or interested in it and not aware of its principles and details - and to bring them closer to the methodology of the deviated sect, Ikhwanul-Muslimoon (Muslim Brotherhood) and their misguided leaders and thinkers like Hassan al-Banna and Sayyid Qutb.

OTHER WORDS AND TERMS used to confuse and scare people away from the methodology of the Prophets in calling to Allaah (which is the way of wisdom and intelligence) are:

neo-salafis, saudi salafis, salafiyyah jadeedah, spubs salafis, super-salafis, jaamees, tabdi group and spubs cult.

These labels have been erroneously applied to Muslims who are simply following the Qur'an & Sunnah upon the understanding of the Salafus-Saalih, calling to it and defending that which opposes it.

Eid Milaad an-Nabee is an innovated practice without any doubt. Neither the Prophet (sallallahu 'alaihi wa sallam) celebrated his birthday nor did the Sahaba (radiyallaahu anhum) who loved him the most and were the most devout in following him.

'Abdullaah ibn 'Amr said: The Messenger of Allaah said,

"The Children of Israa'eel split into seventy two sects and my Ummah will split into seventy three sects, all of which are in the Fire except one sect." They asked, "Which is that one, O Messenger of Allaah?" He replied, "That which I and my Companions are upon."

What is the benefit of reciting Ayat Al Kursi?

Narrated Abu Mas'ud (radiAllahu 'anhu):
The Prophet said, "If somebody recited the last two Verses of Surat Al-Baqara at night, that will be sufficient for him."

Narrated Abu Huraira (radiAllahu 'anhu):
Allah 's Apostle ordered me to guard the Zakat revenue of Ramadan. Then somebody came to me and started stealing of the foodstuff. I caught him and said, "I will take you to Allah's Apostle!" Then Abu Huraira described the whole narration and said:) That person said (to me), "(Please don't take me to Allah's Apostle and I will tell you a few words by which Allah will benefit you.) When you go to your bed, recite Ayat-al-kursi, (2.255) for then there will be a guard from Allah who will protect you all night long, and Satan will not be able to come near you till dawn." (When the Prophet heard the story) he said (to me), "He (who came to you at night) told you the truth although he is a liar; and it was Satan."

AI-Fawaid: A Collection of Wise Sayings is one of the well-known compilations of Imam Shams ad-Dîn Muhammad ibn Abî Bakr ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyyah (rahimahullah) who was born in 691H / 1292C.E in al-Zur'i, a small village fifty-five miles from Damascus.

He is well known by the name Ibn Al-Qayyim (may Allah have mercy upon him). This video is based on this book that contains the elevated thoughts that Allah, Exalted be He, bestows upon some of His servants as He wills.
